You know those magical days, leading up to the first day of spring. The special days when the air is warmer, softer, lighter. Aside from the temperature increase, those rare winter days where it feels like spring not only tease us with the days to come but remind us of what we have been missing all of the long, gloomy winter months.
In the days leading up to spring, you can feel it coming. It's in the air. Allergies aside, the air just feels different. It smells different. More often than not, March roars in like a lion with its wind, rain, & yes, flurries. As the Ides of March march on, the month softens, leading into April like a gentle lamb.

While I am shepherding all of my early spring pieces {both home & fashion} out, there are plenty of things to love about the month of March.
5 Things to Love About March {& Healthy Shamrock Shake Recipe}
- Spring is Here: The first day of spring is Tuesday, March 19th. Take this as your cue to start getting into your new seasonal routine. Last year, I wrote a blog post about all of the productive & healthy habits & projects I do to prep for springtime.
- Go Green: Truthfully, I am not a huge St. Patrick's Day person. I would rather be outdoors than at a pub. However, you can use the 'green theme' of March to actually be green. Maybe recycle more often this month or shop secondhanded.
- March Madness: I know nothing about basketball. However, there is a big Michigan State fanatic in my household, so, I always root for MSU Basketball this time of the year.
- Capri Weather: As the temps rise, so do the hemlines. This time of the year, I break out my capris & embrace those breezy early spring days.
- Shamrock Shakes are Back: For those who love McDonald's Shamrock Shakes, it is your season. If you are like me, you opt for a healthier version. See my recipe for a healthy Shamrock Shake.

Healthy Shamrock Shake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 Carton of Vanilla Muscle Milk
- Ice cubes
- A washed handful of fresh green spinach
- Frozen pineapple
- 1/2 Frozen banana
- Chia seeds
Method:
Fill the blender with ice cubes, and the ingredients above. Blend until the smoothie is thick & creamy. The spinach should have turned your wholesome shamrock shake smoothie green. For fun, you can garnish your shamrock shake smoothie with an amaretto-soaked cherry.
