As the calendar rolls into October, creativity strikes like a lightning bolt of inspiration. October is one of the few months where everything just seems magical. The trees have the last opportunity to be nature's showstoppers. Inside our homes, kitchens are bubbling like busy cauldrons, brewing up hot cider & baking spooky seasonal bakes. The exterior of our dwelling is enchanted as well. Porches are sprinkled with pumpkins, gourds, broomsticks, & flowering mums rich in autumnal hues. 

When our entertainment moves on from a day spent at the pumpkin patch, we return to our favorite fall friends. Typical fall friends include The Gilmore Girls on our streaming devices & snuggle up with memories of exploring Hogwarts as we flip through our favorite Harry Potter chapters. October isn't just a month, it is a state of mind.

Below, I am sharing 5 {of my personal} highlights or marks to note about October. These ideas are meant to inspire your Halloween, autumn, & season of harvest to have a happy one in your enchanted next-of-the-woods. 

5 Things to Love About October 

1. Pumpkin Spice Season: It may seem clichè, but October is pumpkin-spice season. I am not keen on the sugary PSL drinks, but certain pumpkin flavors are fun to try this season. Last year, I wrote a big pumpkin-spice food/beverage roundup. Linking it here! 
2. Witchy Things: October sparks a whole new realm of creativity. I always look to the witchy side of things to spark ideas for photography ideas. Since I was a little girl, I loved Sabrina the Teenage Witch & the overall mysticism of witches. 
3. Pumpkin Seeds: It is the season for pumpkin seeds. I love adding pumpkin seeds to my autumn lunches. Plus, some pumpkin seeds & the pumpkin-spice RXBars are so yummy. 
4. Flu Shot Time: Flu shots are not fun. However, the first {or second} week in October is prime time to get your flu shot to carry your immunity through the bulk of flu season. 
5. Halloween Costumes: Over the years, I have posted a variety of DIY Halloween costumes on this blog. This year, I am sharing an easy Hogwarts/Harry Potter-inspired Halloween costume. The best part, get your pets involved!

Harry Potter/Hogwarts-Inspired Halloween Costume Ideas 

Harry Potter is a wonderful escape in any season, but the Wizarding World characters are exceptionally powerful during autumn. I looked to Five Below for some quick & easy Gryffindor-themed costumes. I used Harry's glasses, a fun Harry Potter-themed t-shirt, in school colors, & some cute pet accessories {scarves, magical capes, & preppy puppy sweaters} to give the Team Gryffindor aesthetic to Riley, Finely, & my Halloween costume. Mischief Managed!
