Beach Bum Day, Walnut Beach, Ashtabula, Ohio
Walnut Beach & Coastal dunes are loacted in the nautical port of Ashtabula County with Lake Erie as the body of water.
I took a beach day. If you don't already know, I am coastal at heart, eventhough, I feel very landlocked most Ohio days. It's my dream to move near a body of water {large lake or ocean} with the water being either very close or right outside my small kitchen's window.
I haven't been to Lake Erie in ages & my expecations were set low. To my surpise, Lake Erie, the fourth largest lake, touching four states, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, & Michigan, was so beautiful!

A Lake Erie Beach Day...🏖
The beach was clean, spacious, but quaint, & looked like the ocean with the clear water & waves washing ashore. I was pleasently surpised that Walnut Beach had bathrooms, a foot wash, & a beach cafe. It was really cute. Behind the beach, ontop of a large hill sat beach homes with sand dunes below.
People come to Lake Erie looking for Lake Erie beach glass. I didn't find any, but I found some pretty {mostly white} lake pebbles--while collecting I felt like Erica from Something's Gotta Give. Yes, I picked up a black stone-something to remener me by {if you know, you know}
Up the beach's right side are higher rocks were waves break, spraying water up. You can see the Ashtaula lighthouse further up. Certain times of the day, the beach is gaurded by lifeguards, which is nice. FYI There is no alcohol permitted or dogs at Walnut Beach.

There are plenty of trash cans & a picnic area prior to walking on the beach.
What is even more dreamy about a Walnut Beach Lake Erie day is that the town's harbor & shopping center is right down the road, passing a cute bed & breakfast.
The Ashtabula downtown harbor has boat tours & a lift bridge pulled by a giant weight.
Since my beach days are rare, I soak up all the memories & savor them throughout the year. Lake Erie is definitely worth a visit.
