My Word of 2023 'Moderation'
Moderation: The avoidance of excess or extremes
You have probably heard of the saying, 'everything in moderation.' As we enter the New Year, 2023, I wanted to return to a blog post where I pick a word that has meaning to me & share how I plan on reflecting back on that chosen word during the course of 2023.
For 2023, I have selected the word, moderation. It's easy to get caught in the hype of all. The holidays...all hype. The newest camera with 61 megapixels, is all hype. So much hype leads to cluttered closets & a cluttered mental state of existence.
Moderation is my word for 2023 |
As someone who likes things, picking the word moderation is my way of simplifying life, mindfully making purchases & using the theory, less doesn't have to mean bad, less can mean better, in many cases.
Working with what you have or limiting yourself to work within your budget can lead to creative advantages. As someone who loves {I mean loves} cameras & camera lenses, I have to constantly remind myself, I don't need the latest {well, not all the time}. Working with what I have can reproduce some amazing & creative ideas as well as save money for when it is right to make a new purchase.
The word moderation will also be applied to my workflow, making on jobs & clients that pay well & not putting so much effort in the smaller opportunities that take up the same {if not more} amount of time. Being mindful of how I work can equate to how I can grow as an entrepreneur & spend time on things that I enjoy, I do enjoy my written & photography work, in that sense, I am lucky.
In a world where we are constantly feeding algorithms with new content, posting with intent & in moderation I think is beneficial to those who consume mass social media as well as for the mental health of those creating content.
As 2023 begins, I am looking forward to stepping into the New Year with mindful intentions & the idea that less is more. Everything in moderation.
Happy New Year!
