Simple Slow Cooker Recipe: Cozy Christmas Nuts
If my days watching The Great British Baking Show {on Netflix} has taught me anything it is, simplicity goes a long way.
So many of the bakers try to complicate their bakes by incorporating too many themes, flavors, sponges, & ingredients to a point where they miss the mark on flavor & run out of time completing their bakes.
If you look at the bakers who go a more simplistic route, their creations are {usually} hearty with flavor & full-on with pizzazz. That's my take on it anyway.
I made these Christmas Nuts inside my small Crockpot last year. This recipe, which I found inside of Easy Holiday Recipes, is just that, simple!
After making these sugar-coated walnuts, I have found that they would be a great gift to pre-make for holiday gatherings, hostess gifts, & gifts to give to people like your mail carriers, pet sitters, neighbors & so on.

I also like the fact that these holiday nuts are also plant-based friendly. The slow cooker recipe calls for 1 stick of butter but I used plant-based butter & it turned out fine!
This recipe {the recipe I used} originally appeared in a 2020 print copy of Easy Holiday Recipes from the editors of Relish. Aside from adding dried cranberries to the nuts, I take no credit for this recipe.

Cooking Time: 2-3 Hours
2-3 qt Crockpot/Slow Cooker
You'll Need:
1 lb Walnut Pieces
1 Stick unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup confectionary sugar
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp allspice
1/8 ground clove
Method:
- In a slow cooker, stir walnuts & butter together until combine
- Add confectioners' sugar stirring to coat nuts evenly
- Cover. Cook on High for 15mins. Then reduce heat to Low.
- Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until nuts are coated with a glaze, roughly 2 hours later.
- Remove nuts from the slow cooker croc & transfer them into a mixing bowl.
- In the bowl, combine all spices & sift over the warm nuts, tossing them so they are coated evenly.
- Allow nuts to cool before transferring them into their gifting packages. *I keep mine in a cool dry place.
