A Guide to Instagram-able Spots in Palm Springs

A Guide to Instagram-able Spots in Palm Springs

Palm Springs, California is hopping hub for art deco decor, kitschy colorful style, as well as a mecca for modern architecture & design. Recently, I made the trip with my dad to Palm Spring as it was my first time on the West Coast.

During my stay, the weather was somewhat unseasonably chilly as it even rained one day. However, my exploring spirits were not dampened as I was able to find some colorful meets Instagram worthy places to explore.

Based on the places I photographed in Palm Springs, I wanted to round up a few Instagram-able Palm Springs Spots just in case you're planning a trip out to this groovy modern meets retro town.

Let's go, shall we?

Palm Springs is a small city but is broken up into various little towns.

  • Desert Hot Springs
  • Sky Valley
  • Cathedral City
  • Thousand Palms
  • Palm Desert
  • Rancho Mirage
  • Indian Wells
  • Bermuda Dunes
  • Indio
  • La Quinta
  • Coachella
While Palm Springs is technically small, I would recommend renting a car in order to see all that you want to see as each city has photogenic locations, quaint shops, stores, hotels, & food. I spent the most time in La Quinta as well as Coachella Valley.

What are the best places to take photos in Palm Springs?

1. Coachella City Limit Sign

Address: Grapefruit Blvd & Avenue 54, Thermal, Ca 922236

Basically, this is the Coachella sign out in the desert that you see all over Instagram come April. Funny enough, when all the social stars & music stars aren't in Coachella, it's actually a sleepy little town.

2. Coachella Valley {Lookout} Vista Point

Address: Pines to Palms Hwy, Palm Desert, CA 92260 {Off of Highway 74}

It's a {somewhat} wild ride up the mountains to get to this lookout point, but the view of the Valley & towns from above is a great Instagram opportunity.

The Saguaro Hotel & Pool is a rainbow hotel in Palm Springs

3. The Saguaro

Address: 1800 E Palm Canyon Dr. Palm Springs CA 92264

Such a fun & colorful hotel all the way around!

4. The Cafe at Shields

Address: 80225 CA-111, Indio, CA 92201 {Open Monday - Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM}

This place is so cool. Sheilds/ The Cafe at Sheilds sells dates of all varieties--they even make their famous date shakes on-premise.  Aside from dates, visitors can tour the epic gardens outback.

5. La Quinta Country Club

Address: 77-750 Avenue 50, La Quinta, CA 92253

I attended a wedding here at this desert oasis of a country club. If you're seeking sweeping views for photos, this is a place to trek to.  *Update, this spot may look familiar if you watched the last season {2020} of ABC's The Bachelorette*

6. The Shops on El Paseo

Address: 73-061 El Paseo, Palm Desert, CA 92260

Gucci, Lily Pulitzer, Kate Spade, Pottery Barn & so many more shops to explore. There are also restaurants, a Starbucks as well as plenty of cute cars cruising the strip. I stopped in a store called, Fresh Produce & picked up some cute things.

where is the Palm Springs sign located?

7. The Palm Springs Sign

Address: Palm Springs, CA 92262

This is another great Instagram location in Palm Springs as the iconic snowcapped mountains are in clear view. This is where you can also get on the Tram to go up into the mountains. The Palm Springs' Visitor Center is here too which is great for little gifts.

Of course, there are many more sights to see in Palm Springs, but during my stay, these were some of my highlights.
