Spring Cleaning Tips Featuring Matterly
Dear reader, please note that this post is sponsored by Matterly. However, I have maintained my blog's integrity by writing honestly, as I have owned two Matterly personalized doormats for about one year. Please enjoy my spring cleaning tips below!
Spring is right around the greening corner. In fact, the 1st day of spring is March 20th! While the warm spring days are welcomed by seasonal clogs, greening grass, budding blooms, and a Dairy Queen run {free cone day on spring 1st} it's also acknowledged by refreshing inside & outside of our homes.
Spring cleaning is something I do every year. Spring cleaning, a deeper home clean, washing walls, changing linens, organizing cabinets, closets, & drawers, carpet cleaning, & rug refreshers all go into a good spring clean. Spring cleaning is a great way to erase all of the winter grime & hit the refresh space in one's home.
Below, I am sharing four spring cleaning tips/ things I do to make my home as fresh as a springtime daisy.

Matterly Non-Shedding /Fade Resistant Doormat |
- Rug & Carpet Cleaning: Deep cleaning your home seasonally means paying attention to the carpeted areas of your home. Aside from running a home-owned carpet cleaner {you can call the pros if you really want} I also steam clean all of the welcome mats, rugs & texture mats in my home. I have owned two last-name personalized doormats from Matterly for over a year now. The quality of the mats has withstood the various weather here in Ohio. As you can see, the Yes, Chef doormat is in direct sun most of the late day. I am really surprised that it hasn't faded! However, the brand notes to avoid placing mats in direct sunlight. The other mat, not pictured here, gets a lot of traction at my front door {not to mention, boxes being set on it from deliveries} & that mat too hasn't weathered. However, with spring cleaning, my mom cleaned both mats with our carpet cleaner. The images of the mat pictured are what it looks like afterward-- it looks brand new. Aside from the fun personalization options that Matterly offers, I like that their doormats don't shed or attract debris. It looks clean 90% of the time. When they need a little vacuum, it's easy to run the sweeper over without any catching issues. I have realized that Matterly mats are both functional & stylish--a combination that every homemaker loves.
- Wash Walls, Baseboards, & Polish Woodwork: in my everyday cleaning, I do not wash walls or scrub baseboards. However, I tackle my indoor spring cleaning room by room. Day by day. You cannot spring clean your entire home in one day. It's best to have a plan & a room each day you wish to deep clean. After you select your room to clean, prepare your cleaning essentials {vaccumm, wall soap (I like the Mrs. Meyers brand) furniture polish, window cleaner (I like the Method brand), dusting tools, & so on, start with your walls. Wipe down your walls from top to bottom with a soft microfiber rag & paint-safe soap diluted in a warm bucket of water. To reach the higher places I use a ladder &/or a Swifter with a wet rag on the end. After my walls are done, I wipe down the baseboards. I finish by polishing any wood surface to give it a final shine.
- Linen Refresh: Spring cleaning is the time of year to lighten up your linens—everything from your bedding, dresser scarves, table linens, and towels. I love to put on a lightweight, light-on-the-eye quilt. I love simple table runners in fabric such as eyelets. I spring up my shower curtain and towels in my bathroom. When everything is light, easy, breezy, fresh, and clean, spring feels so much more joyful!
- Seasonal Decor: After I have everything neat and clean, I put out seasonal decor. Think of some decorations for Easter, seasonal flower arrangements, fresh scents in air fresheners, seasonal pillow and blanket swaps, and so on. When you switch up the elements inside your space, you're turning the creative switch back on.
