By Martha Kay's social media following, her content rich blog, & starkly picturesque photos you'd think she has been a blogging pro for a longtime. In fact, by nights & weekends Martha Kay is a blogger--In her everyday life, she is a Registered Nurse!
When she's not in scrubs {that's what nurse call them, right?} she is mingling in preppy/lux brands {think, Ralph Lauren, YSL, & Burberry}. Her coastal style is mixed with an equestrienne, earthy yet sophisticated vibe.

The Yellow Spectacles: What made you want to start blogging?
Martha Kay: I've been an avid blog reader for a couple years, especially fashion and lifestyle blogs. Back in the fall of 2014 I decided to create an Instagram account where I featured my favorite bloggers on a daily basis.
I posted a photo of one blogger every day and wrote a little blurb about why I loved their style. At around that same time in my life, I was starting to desire a creative outlet outside of my job as a nurse.
I've always loved writing, fashion, design and photography and I was starting to look for ways to incorporate these passions of mine into my daily life. Eventually I thought that starting my own blog would be the perfect next step! I was already a blog fanatic and starting my own would be the perfect way to get creative!
TYS: Your blog title, North Left Coast is so intriguing! How did you come up with the name?
MK: I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, and where I'm from is a huge part of who I am. I wanted my blog title to represent myself, my home, my lifestyle and my taste in fashion.
The way I dress and the things I do are all heavily influenced by coastal living and the pacific northwest. Even if I travel a lot or move to another city, my blog title still represents who I am and where I was raised. I used the word Left rather than West because it seemed unique!

TYS: Can you give other bloggers advice about capturing images for their blog?
MK: Although I'm no photography expert, my advice for capturing product pictures would be to use natural lighting, an all-white backdrop and a good quality camera if possible. I always increase the exposure, brightness and saturation during editing. I use a Canon Rebel t3i and a 50mm lens for the most part.

MK: Nautical. Classic. Bright.
TYS: One major goal you have for North Left Coast is...
MK: I would like to feel creatively stimulated and fulfilled, and I would love for other people to feel inspired!
