Sex and the City fans will recall the one episode where Carrie had a busy day in the city & when she returned home to her apartment late that evening, she mentioned the fact that it was in that moment fall had settled into the Big Apple. Instanesouly, she shut her bedroom window as she reached for a blanket for the first time in months.

This time of year, I always think about that episode as there is the one split second when you just know summer has departed & fall has moved in.

One good thing about the change of seasons is a change of decor--maybe even a new paint color if you are switching up a room color & or looking to add an uplifting facelift to your front door.

I for one know that a fresh coat of paint can do wonders for your soul & for your space.

I was lucky enough to chat with paint color experts about fall/winter's 2019 most popular paint colors.

Before speaking with any of these experts, I have noticed an uptick in sage & eucalyptus greens. While you may not think of greens as a neutral color, the right shade of green can really go with anything while making a bit of a design statement too.

Sue Kim Color Marketing Manager for Valspar Paint shares her perspective on autumn greens.

Saying, "As the weather cools down we spend more time inside, it’s important to surround ourselves with color that keeps us positive and balanced to avoid the winter slump!"

Continuing, "Colors that are reminiscent of the water and sky are a great way to feel energized and optimistic.  Green Water {5003-4A} is a modern take on a calm natural hue. Pair with similar colors and hues to create a sophisticated, balanced look!"

Like soft greens, blush pinks are true & timeless. Kims shares, "We are looking at neutral shades in a new light, looking to add personality to typical grays and beiges. The palette of expected neutrals has expanded to colorful neutrals, with soft blush tones now a staple."

Continuing, "Muted shades of pink add confidence while maintaining a sense of gentle warmth, Blushing Bride {2001-10B} is perfect when you’re looking create an intentional space."

I for one always gravitate toward soft/muted pastels, whites-creams as well as soft grays as I find these colors soothing, but timeless as well.

Ashley Banbury, Sr. Color Designer for HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams seems to reciprocate this thought as well.

She says, "Soft hues of green are light, airy and welcoming.  Add a sharp contrast with dark shades of gray and blue for added intrigue. The Everyday Balance Color Collection creates a warm retreat and escape, perfect for any season!"

Lastly, my own personal color-selection advice would be no matter the 'trendy-it-color' make sure your color inspires you. That's what makes it your it-hue!
