Dog Strollers, Reasons Why My Dogs & I Love Ours

In this post, I am sharing my current pet stroller & how my dogs & I love spending time together walking & enjoying nature--safely.

Let's talk pet strollers. Refrain from inserting an eye roll. There is a misconception that pet strollers/dog strollers are a bit prissy--like can't your dog{s} walk? In this post, I want to debunk that thought & share reasons why my two dogs, Riley & Finley love their stroller--& I love the sense of security they have inside.

This post is in loving memory of my beloved Riley. Rest in Peace.

Dog Strollers, Reasons Why My Dogs & I Love Ours

My dogs have mild/low-grade luxating patellas {floating knee caps} common in small breeds. However, due to Riley's age & his birth/hoarding story, his front legs are bowed. These issues make it difficult for them to go on long walks.

  • Convenience: Putting my dogs in their stroller and then hitting the road is convenient AF. The GenPets stroller I have is bigger than standard--therefore, two can easily fit inside. I just put them in & go!
  • Pet Healthy: Both of my dogs are house dogs & they get plenty of activity inside running, walking, & playing. When we go for walks in our stroller, they're not stressing their joints nor risk cutting their paws on any debris in the street {I always see broken glass by people's driveways}.
  • Sense of Security: My neighborhood is notorious for loose-mean dogs. If you read this post, you'll recall my mother was attacked on a walk {in our neighborhood} by the wolf-dog next door. It's a shame neighbors have acres of yard, but their front yards are places where they feel it's smart to keep their dogs. Having Riley & Finley zipped offers me more security when walking.
  • Overall Wellness: I think we can all agree that walks, being outdoors, & moderate physical activity boost our mental & physical health. The same goes for our pets--both dogs love to get out of the house, feel the fresh air & take in the country air. I like getting my steps in along with spending time with my boys.

If you follow me on social media or here, you'll know I am someone who lives an active lifestyle. I have had a few pet strollers. You can shop for pet strollers on Amazon or in-store at TJ Maxx. Typically, around spring, TJ Maxx gets a bigger dog stroller selection & I have seen them run from $130-$200.

If you have a small to medium-sized dog & love to go for longer walks or just be outdoors, a dog stroller is a great investment. Inside, I have blankets, dog toys/bones, & water in the cup holder {one for me & one for them}.
